Lumos is a latin word representing light, goodness and hope. Operation Lumos hopes to bring light and warmth to the children of India.
Op Lumos as it is commonly known first began in May 2004. During Op Lumos I, a team comprising of 25 volunteers from all walks of life took part in this meaningful 18-day community service project. During the trip, participants get to sleep, eat, work and live together with the children in the home. Through this meaningful exchange, participants will discover and understand more about themselves, others and the joy of sharing.
This project is brought to you by Bukit Batok Community Club with support from Youth Expedition Project, Singapore International Foundation and National Youth Council.
We are now recruiting interested individuals to join us for Operation Lumos II in May 2005. Anyone keen to do their bit for the children of India and at the same time learning and interacting with them is welcome.
